Further highlights of the third issue

  • LIR is dedicated to the International Bar Association IBA with an interview with Almudena Arpón de Mendívil Aldama, President of the International Bar Association for the years 2023/2024, who summarizes her impressions of the IBA Annual Conference 2023 in Paris
  • The issue also features an interview with Dariusz Grzeszczak, founder and CEO of the ERBUD GROUP, who talks about the problem of housing shortages in the European Union, among other things. "Housing shortage is a problem in many developed European countries. We ask ourselves why the birth rate is falling, and this is often linked to an economically stable situation, which is guaranteed by having your own home, among other things," summarizes Grzeszczak in this context. In the Compliance chapter, TIGGES Associate Patrick Jörg Kaatz and Sonja Laskowski, Data Protection and Compliance Management Officer at the consulting firm TIGGES DCO GmbH, explain the current challenges for German companies posed by the Supply Chain Duty of Care Act (LkSG). They also shed light on the current status of the planned European Supply Chain Directive (CSDDD) and the draft of the Financial Crime Prevention Act (FKBG) as well as the upcoming obligation to establish a reporting office for companies with more than 50 employees on December 17 in accordance with the Whistleblower Protection Act.
  • In the Corporate / M&A chapter, Dr. Dominik Wagner, LL.M., Tomasz Baron, LL.M. and Bahar Beyaz focus on a recent exciting ruling by the Federal Court of Justice on disclosure obligations in the context of due diligence, which underlines that the mere provision of data in a designated data room does not always fulfill the contractual disclosure obligations.

In addition, there are numerous contributions from top-class colleagues from leading German law firms. A big thank you to all the authors who contributed to this issue.

We would like to thank the LIR team for the great cooperation and professional realization of this innovative publishing project - we are already looking forward to the next issue!
