Area of Specialisation

Astrid Ternes has been a Senior Associate at TIGGES since 2025. As a specialist lawyer for employment law, her primary focus is advising employers and their executives on all employment law matters, covering both individual and collective labor law.

Her key areas of activity include drafting employment contracts and advising on termination solutions, both out-of-court and in court. She also advises on employment law issues related to operational changes (business transfers, negotiations for reconciliation of interests and social plans), in disputes with the works council, and in collective bargaining negotiations.

Due to her previous experience in corporate employment law for an internationally active group, Astrid Ternes has a particular interest in developing equally sensible and sustainable communication and solutions with social partners (including works council bodies, representatives for severely disabled persons, and trade unions) while safeguarding their respective legal interests.

  • Other Fields of Activity

Astrid Ternes is a member of the German Bar Association (DAV) e.V., the Employment Law Working Group within the DAV, the Mediation Working Group within the DAV, and the German Women Lawyers Association (djb) e.V.

Additionally, she also works as a mediator in out-of-court conflict resolution.

  • CV

Astrid Ternes successfully completed a banking apprenticeship at a private bank in Düsseldorf before studying law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Münster. After passing her first state examination, she completed her legal traineeship in the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court district, with placements in the employment law practice group of a major British law firm, at the German Embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan, and at the Berlin Labor Court.

After being admitted to the bar in 2017, she first worked at two mid-sized law firms in Bonn and Cologne, and in corporate employment law for an internationally active group based in Cologne. Since 2020, she has been a specialist lawyer for employment law and successfully completed her mediator training in 2024, before being certified as a mediator in February 2025.
