Area of Specialisation
Georg Schmidt has joined TIGGES Rechtsanwälte in August 2006. Focal points of his activity are all tax-law issues, including and particularly those in connection with civil-law and corporate-law questions. Emphasis is placed on succession planning under civil law and tax law as well as procedural aspects in proceedings before the fiscal authorities and the finance court.

He further specialises in agency law, here particularly the judicial assertion of compensation claims according to section 89b HGB (German Commercial Code) and defending compensation claims. Another field of activity concerns claims regarding false counselling in connection with investments.
After his A-levels, Georg Schmidt studied at the North-Rhine Westphalian College of Higher Education for Finance in Nordkirchen from 1996 to 1999, and there acquired the academic degree of a certified financial expert, called "Diplom-Finanzwirt (FH)". He pursued work as a tax inspector at the North Rhine-Westphalian Fiscal Authority.
Georg Schmidt studied law from 1999 until 2003 at the Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf with the focus on tax law. After the first state examination he worked for the accounting and tax advice company Deloitte & Touche GmbH in Düsseldorf.
Georg Schmidt spent his legal traineeship at the Regional Court of Düsseldorf, with placements at the State Fiscal Authority of North Rhine Westphalia, the Düsseldorf Fiscal Court, and at the law firm of TIGGES Rechtsanwälte. He passed the second state examination as an attorney at law in June 2006 in Düsseldorf as well.
